Future Founders, a non-profit organization that believes every youth can become an entrepreneur, today announced the appointment of Ram Ramanan to its Board of Directors.
Ramkumar (Ram) Ramanan is an Assurance Partner in Ernst & Young LLP (EY), based in Chicago. Ram has over 21 years of public accounting experience serving large and medium-size publicly held and privately-owned companies and fast growth companies in software/technology, healthcare, business services, consumer products and industrial products.
Ram also serves as the Growth Markets Leader responsible for EY’s new business development in Illinois. Ram has also held other leadership responsibilities within EY including Global Delivery Services Integration Leader for the Central Region and Chicago Assurance Staff Experience Management Leader. Along with Future Founders, Ram is active in the community and serves on the board of College Possible Chicago, a not-for-profit organization focused on making college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree and the Chartered Accountant qualification in India. Ram is also an Illinois licensed Certified Public Accountant. Ram previously worked in EY Singapore for six years before moving to Chicago.
“Growing up in India with modest means and limited opportunity, I have always believed that one must make one’s own destiny,” said Ramanan. ”Future Founders’ mission resonates with my personal belief and inspires me to help others be successful. The organization’s focus on entrepreneurship also aligns with EY’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, who are the future of our economic progress.”
“We are honored to have a talented leader and passionate advocate for economic opportunity like Ram join our Board. Ram brings a wealth of experience, a passion for our work, and a belief in the potential of empowering youth through entrepreneurship at every age,” said Scott Issen, President & CEO, Future Founders. “With Ram’s appointment, we are excited to deepen our partnership with EY, one of the most respected and engaged partners in the global entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
EY is a long-time sponsor of Future Founders, supporting our skill-building work with middle and high school students in Chicago and the Entrepreneurs in Residence who coach our 18 to 30-year-old Fellows across the nation.
