Future Founders, a nonprofit building the nation’s largest inclusive community of intentional young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial-minded leaders, today announced the appointment of Gaurav Doshi to its Board of Directors.
Doshi brings more than 25 years of experience in engineering, strategy, and business leadership. He currently serves as Senior Director of Strategy at Motorola Solutions, where he helps identify growth opportunities and advance innovative technologies. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles spanning mergers and acquisitions, product development, go-to-market strategy, business building, and team development.
Doshi also brings a decade of nonprofit board experience. Through his board service with Citizen Schools and Education Pioneers, he has helped organizations develop growth strategies, expand development opportunities, and navigate operational challenges.
His appointment deepens a relationship that dates to the beginning of Future Founders. The Motorola Solutions Foundation is the organization’s founding sponsor and has supported its work from the start.
“It is an honor to join the Board of Future Founders and represent the Motorola Solutions Foundation,” said Doshi. “For more than 15 years, Future Founders has inspired and empowered young people to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and create their own opportunity. I am thrilled to continue supporting this shared mission.”
Doshi’s connection to entrepreneurship began early. His father built a successful wholesale clothing distribution business that started, quite literally, from the trunk of the family car. That experience, together with Doshi’s work developing growth strategies for dozens of businesses and leading businesses himself, shaped his belief in the value of entrepreneurial thinking.
“Entrepreneurship is not just about having a brilliant idea or a vision,” Doshi said. “Successful entrepreneurs bring a strong work ethic, dedication, a willingness to learn, and the ability to pivot when reality challenges their assumptions. The best entrepreneurs combine an unshakable vision for the future with a relentless eagerness to learn.”
Doshi believes introducing entrepreneurship early can benefit young people regardless of whether they ultimately start a business. Encouraging them to explore what is possible, he said, can unlock new career and life opportunities, strengthen economic security, and equip them to contribute to their communities in different ways.
“Gaurav’s experience building businesses, shaping growth strategies, and supporting mission-driven organizations will be an incredible asset to Future Founders,” said Scott Issen, President & CEO of Future Founders. “His appointment also represents the next chapter in our longstanding relationship with the Motorola Solutions Foundation, whose belief in our mission from the very beginning helped make our work possible. Gaurav understands both the power of entrepreneurial thinking and the importance of giving young people access to education, mentorship, and opportunity.”
“Future Founders gives young people the tools, mindset, and confidence to shape their own path,” said Wesley Barden Touhy, Executive Director of Motorola Solutions Foundation. “Having supported this mission from day one, the Motorola Solutions Foundation is thrilled to have Gaurav join the board. He brings deep operational insight and a genuine passion for coaching emerging talent; he’ll make a lasting impact on these rising leaders and the organization.”
As Future Founders expands its national reach, Doshi sees an opportunity to build on the organization’s proven work in Chicago while using advances in technology, communications, and financing to serve more young people. He is especially eager to engage directly with the organization’s emerging entrepreneurs.
“I am an entrepreneurial geek,” Doshi said. “I enjoy hearing about ideas, market challenges, customer needs, competitive landscape and brainstorming ideas. I am excited to learn about how our young people think and the ideas they have.”
Doshi holds an M.B.A. from Northwestern University and a B.S. from Purdue University. He credits education and mentorship with helping him succeed throughout his career and hopes his board service will allow him to pass those opportunities forward to the next generation.
