Future Founders Foundation Seeks New Youth Entrepreneurship Program Associate

The Future Founders Foundation is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team this spring to assist with the expansion of our youth entrepreneurship program.

Position Objective:
The Program Associate will assist with school year-end activities related to Future Founders, our youth entrepreneurship program for high school students.  As part of this role, the Associate will:

• attend and facilitate in-class mentoring sessions with the Program Director and provide coaching to students on their business plans.
• assist with key program events including our semifinal business plan competitions and our “American Idol” meets entrepreneurship style citywide business plan competition.
• provide support in the planning and execution of our week-long summer entrepreneurship camp.
• serve as a spokesperson for the organization and our mission at various community events.
• recruit new volunteers that reflect the students’ demographic profile.

The Program Associate will also provide support for Connect to the Future, our college and career readiness program for middle and high school students.

Reports to: President & CEO, Future Founders Foundation
Position Duration: March 1, 2013 – July 2, 2013
Location: The Future Founders Foundation is headquartered at Lightbank’s offices (600 W. Chicago Ave., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60654).  The Program Associate will also work in the field at various Chicago locations and shadow the Future Founders Program Director for the majority of his/her experience.

Preferred Credentials:

• College graduate with a major in entrepreneurship, business, technology or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in a business environment.
• Enjoy working with teenagers.
• Have experience starting a business or working in a start-up environment.
• Have experience teaching or working with students in a youth program.
• Have experience working in low-income/economically disadvantaged areas.

Desired Background, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience in business plan creation is encouraged.
• Possess strong written and oral presentation skills.
• Problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Have the experience, professional credibility and personal attributes necessary to forge productive relationships with people inside and outside the organization.
• Capable of high levels of project management, marketing, social media and event planning.
• Ability to work well in teams and independently.
• Demonstrate initiative for assignments and be a self-starter.
• Capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
• Detail-oriented.
• Have a valid driver’s license in the United States.
• Be computer-literate with experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
• Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 25 pounds or more without assistance.
• Desire to have fun while making a difference in the lives of our youth.
