Vendant Aggarwal recalls a moment during the 2024 Be Your Own Boss Cohort that left a lasting impression on him. It was the day of the final presentations, and each team had only a few minutes to pitch their business ideas—a culmination of weeks of hard work. As he stood before the panel, Vendant felt a surge of nerves but also excitement. He had learned to distill complex ideas into concise, compelling narratives, a skill he hadn’t fully appreciated until that moment. The experience was not just about pitching a business; it was about learning to communicate effectively, a vital skill that would serve him well beyond the program.
At Future Founders, we believe that moments like these are pivotal. Our programs are designed to do more than just teach entrepreneurship—they empower underestimated youth to discover their potential, connect with like-minded peers, and develop skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Vendant’s journey is a shining example of the impact we strive to make, and his story highlights the transformative power of our work.
For Vendant, one of the standout aspects of participating in the Future Founders program was the opportunity to connect with peers who shared his entrepreneurial spirit. He cherished the chance to work closely with a team that had similar ambitions and aspirations. Despite living in different areas, the team members found common ground in their shared passion for entrepreneurship. This experience not only broadened Vendant’s network but also provided him with a sense of camaraderie and mutual support.
“Meeting new people, especially those who shared the same mindset as me, was amazing,” Vendant shared. “We had similar plans for our futures, and it was cool to connect with them and see how things are different for us.”
This emphasis on networking and collaboration is a core component of our programs at Future Founders. We strive to create an environment where young entrepreneurs can learn from each other, exchange ideas, and build lasting relationships.
A significant lesson Vendant took away from the program was the importance of being concise. In the world of entrepreneurship, the ability to communicate ideas clearly and succinctly is invaluable. During the program, participants were tasked with developing and presenting business pitches. Vendant noted that the process of refining his pitch to fit within a limited timeframe taught him a lot about distilling complex ideas into essential points.
“One thing I learned that was super important was being concise when representing something,” Vendant explained. “We had to be concise in our pitch because we only had a few minutes to present what we’d been working on for weeks. It was super rewarding to consolidate everything and present it effectively.”
This skill is not only crucial in high school and real life but also in the professional world. The ability to communicate efficiently can make a significant difference in business settings, from pitching to investors to marketing products to customers.
While Vendant doesn’t yet have a specific business plan, the Future Founders program has sparked his interest in entrepreneurship. Though his vision for his future business is still forming, the program has provided him with a solid foundation and the confidence to pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the future.
“The program was really helpful,” Vendant said. “If I do try to start a business, it’ll have benefited me a lot.”
At Future Founders, we understand that not every participant will leave our program with a fully formed business plan. However, we aim to plant the seeds of entrepreneurship, inspire creative thinking, and provide the tools and knowledge necessary for our participants to explore their potential.
When asked what advice he would give to friends considering joining a Future Founders program, Vendant emphasized the supportive and welcoming environment he experienced. He wanted potential participants to know that while the program might sound professional and serious, it is also relaxed and approachable.
“I would tell them that even though it sounds super professional, everyone is really nice and understanding,” Vendant shared. “They shouldn’t be stressed about it. It’s a relaxed environment, and everyone is caring.”
This supportive atmosphere is a hallmark of Future Founders. We strive to create a nurturing environment where young people feel comfortable taking risks, exploring new ideas, and learning from both successes and failures.
Vendant’s journey with Future Founders is a testament to the transformative power of our programs. By providing young people with the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, learn valuable skills, and explore their entrepreneurial potential, we empower them to take charge of their futures.
